The job tracker is your personal application pipeline. It's private — nobody else sees it — and gives you a structured view of your search, from the first role you save to the offer you accept.
Find it under Job Tracker in the sidebar (/dashboard/tracker).
Pipeline stages
Every application has one status. You start at Saved and move forward as your search progresses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Saved | A role you're considering. |
| Applied | You've submitted your application. |
| Interview | You're interviewing. |
| Offer | You have an offer. |
| Accepted | You accepted the offer. |
| Rejected / Withdrawn | The process ended. |
| Archived | Filed away. |
You can only move an application to a valid next stage — for example, Saved → Applied or Applied → Interview, but not straight from Saved to Offer — which keeps your pipeline honest. In the board view, the closed statuses (Accepted, Rejected, Withdrawn, and Archived) are grouped under Closed.
Adding an application
Choose Add application and fill in the basics — job title, company, and job URL. New applications always start as Saved.
You can also capture, in the same flow:
- Details — location, employment type, remote type, source, salary (minimum, maximum, currency, and period), deadline, next action and date, priority, and notes.
- Application Kit (optional) — add the job description and link a resume and cover letter now so you can run Match to Job right away. Only resumes marked Active can be linked.
Everything stays editable afterwards from the application's detail panel.
Board, table & list views
Switch between three views (your choice is remembered):
- Kanban — drag applications between the stage columns.
- Table — a sortable list with columns you can show, hide, and reorder.
- List — a compact, scannable list.
All views share search (title, company, location, notes, next step, and tags) and filters, plus quick filters such as Active, Interviews, Offers, and Needs Attention. On desktop the tracker is a master–detail layout — select an application to open it beside the list; the selection is reflected in the URL so you can deep-link and use Back/Forward.
Application details
Opening an application gives you a tabbed detail panel with two tabs:
- Details — the core application info: location, employment type, remote type, source, salary (with live preview), job URL, dates, rating, tags, job description (collapsible, editable), career resources, next action, and notes.
- Activity — the status panel (stage, health, progress stepper) and the timeline of events.
Press Escape to close the detail panel.
Kit Assistant (Readiness Dashboard)
Every application has a Kit Assistant, opened via the Kit Assistant button in the detail header. It shows how ready your application is for this specific role:
- Match Score — a color-coded score (0–100%) measuring how well your resume keywords overlap with the job description. Includes an info button explaining what the score means, an expandable score breakdown (coverage, experience, summary, quantified results, education), and honest limitations.
- Focus Areas — prioritized guidance on what to improve, grouped by section (Skills, Experience, Summary). Each area shows why it matters and a concrete suggestion.
- Missing Skills — skills the job description names that your resume doesn't show, grouped by category.
- Soft Skills to Reflect — professional skills the role values that your resume doesn't explicitly show.
- What's Already Working — your strengths for this role, so you know what to keep.
- Relevant Achievements — your Career Vault scored against the role, with match percentages.
- Cover Letter Status — whether a cover letter is linked, with a generate option.
- Interview Prep Link — quick access to prepare for this specific interview.
Application Kit
Every application gets an Application Kit, created automatically the first time you open it. The kit bundles the role-specific work:
- Job description — paste and save the posting (also editable from the Details tab).
- Run Match to Job — score your resume against the description, with a clear breakdown, grouped missing skills, and honest limitations.
- Start here — the single most useful improvement for this application.
- Connected documents — the resume, cover letter, achievements, and interviews linked to this application.
Timeline events
Every change is recorded on the application's timeline — creation, status changes, priority and next-action updates, linked documents, tags, favorites, and deletion. It's a reliable record of how each application progressed.
Interview preparation
From an application you can choose Prepare for Interview. Talent & Story creates an Interview Prep workspace linked to that application, so your questions, stories, and checklist stay tied to the right role.
Dashboard widgets
The tracker feeds your dashboard overview: pipeline counts per stage, conversion, upcoming interviews, stale applications, and reminders — a weekly one-glance check on your search.
Tips
- Review your pipeline weekly: move stale items forward, set the next action and date, and archive closed applications.
- Use tags to slice your search by industry or priority.
- Save the job description in the Application Kit so Match to Job has something to work with.
- Keep salary and contact details in the detail panel so they're searchable later.
